Staff Quality Engineer to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies.

This role will report directly to the Senior Manager of Quality in California.

Location: This position will be based in Seoul, Korea.

Additional Comments: As a Staff Quality Engineer, you will be supporting Bloom’s activity in Korea related to Quality.

You will perform a dual function in Quality roles; 1) Install Quality Role: Supporting preparation, start up, and follow up for “on time”, “start up at full power” for all sites in Korea.

You will be responsible for ensuring our energy production platforms are designed, installed and commissioned on time, on schedule, on budget while meeting all established Quality, Reliability, Safety and Serviceability requirements.

2) Supplier Quality Role: You will be responsible to ensure that all localization efforts are done to Bloom’s quality standards.

That all suppliers’ standards, suppliers’ selection, minimum required quality systems, all assembly processes are qualified, and quality POAs are all present to ensure 100% equivalent quality to US/other international sources.

Role and Responsibilities Install Quality Role: Audit and support site construction and Bloom Energy product installations to design requirements ensuring on-time commencement of operations of a safe and reliable site Gate Bloom Energy and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner projects from proceeding to Service product commissioning phase by inspecting site construction and product installations and confirming design intent is met or exceeded Document, track and drive resolution of cross functional and external EPC process deficiencies from site design through to commencement of operations Regularly perform safety and environmental audits of sites across all stages of construction, installation and commissioning Establish expectation of 8 D problem solving methodology with internal and external process owners to ensure that emerging critical quality, safety, reliability and serviceability are quickly contained followed by effective analysis of root cause(s) and implementation of short and long term corrective measures Rapid response to Early Life Failures (ELF) in the field for construction, installation and product manufacturing issues utilizing aforementioned 8 D process Support Field Replacement Unit (FRU) exchanges and product upgrade activities at operational sites with Field Service and Operations organizations Focus on continuous improvement, value-added engineering and cost reduction through observation and collected data of Bloom Energy and EPC performance to key objectives and performance metrics Supplier Quality Role: Provides SPC expertise and support as needed Provides specification compliance evaluation in support of Product Development Conducts RCAs, prescribes CA and PA as necessary to prevent recurrence and verifies/validates effectiveness Assists in the Administration of the FRACAS (Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System) Process Develops, documents and continuously improves QC Inspection and Testing Standards Supplier Quality Engineering in working with key vendors and subcontractors as necessary to ensure superior material and product quality Develops and systematically analyzes statistical data to determine standards and to ensure product quality and reliability expectations Works in close collaboration with Technical Development (R&D), Manufacturing, New Product Introduction (NPI), and Product Development (Engineering) to develop, conduct and manage QC inspection and/or testing as required Participates in Supplier selection and evaluation.

Works cross-functionally to establish quality requirements for external suppliers Perform Supplier quality assessments at system and product level including PPAP, GR&R, GD&T.

May drive Design and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (DFMEA/PFMEA); using the output to assess and improve targeted product designs and/or processes.

Skills and Experience: Install Quality role: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics or related field or 10 years relevant work experience.

MS desirable Minimum 5 years of field experience constructing, installing and commissioning complex power systems and 6 years of QA experience Ability to read, understand and clearly communicate civil and electrical designs and standards to internal and external partners and respective verticals Empowered self-starter that operates with significant autonomy with proven ability to clearly communicate schedule, top priorities and documents, escalates key emerging issues to internal and external business partners Proven ability to leverage organizational roles and responsibilities to hold process owners accountable for meeting established design and workmanship standards and national and regional code requirements Customer-facing role requires high level of professionalism and communications skills set when responding to site incidents, attending critical milestone activities with customer representatives and communicating Bloom Energy expectations where deficiencies or deviations from contract are identified Solid experience with MS Suite and Salesforce (or similar) required, Oracle experience desirable International project experience desirable Must be able to establish technical credibility with the Engineering Staff.

Extensive working knowledge of and experience with ISO 9001:2000 and QS-9000 (TS 16949).

Quality Management System auditing experience.

Strong Project/Process Management skills and capabilities particularly in planning, developing, organizing, and implementing Quality processes.

Sound interpersonal skills and strong ability to establish effective cross-functional working relationships; Ability to effectively participate on multi-disciplinary teams.

Ability to prepare and effectively present formal reports to both internal and external customers.

Practical working knowledge and application of SPC.

Proficiency in the application of DOEs and ANOVA.

ASQ-certified CQE and Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

Highly customer-focused (both externally and internally).

Flexibility within a rapidly changing, dynamic working environment.

Demonstrated self-initiative and sound judgment on technical projects and improvement initiatives.
