Your Role:
The (Senior) Manager, Publishing A&R and Creative Services for WCM Korea reports to the Managing Director, Korea and dotted line to VP, Regional A&R and Creative. This role will be responsible for driving A&R creative development, managing songwriter relationships, and supporting commercial growth for WCM Korea. This role bridges creative and commercial functions to ensure local publishing efforts align with global business strategies. The ideal candidate possesses strong strategy and meticulous project management skills, can support Creative Service operations and licensing deals, and manage revenue-generating partnerships, positioning WCM Korea as a leader in publishing innovation.
Here you'll get to:
A&R Creative & Project Management
Independently manage creative and commercial projects across multiple stakeholders and time zones.
Create compelling presentations, sales decks, newsletters, and case studies that communicate value and impact.
Partner with local, regional, and global leadership on business planning, strategic growth initiatives, and operational execution.
Provide industry insights, analytics, and market intelligence to inform strategy.
Manage project lifecycle: from ideation to execution, tracking milestones, timelines, and deliverables.
Support and organize songwriting initiatives such as song camps and writing sessions in collaboration with local, regional, and global teams.
Drive internal collaboration across departments such as Legal, Admin, Analytics, and Comms.
Manage department budgets and internal spending on a quarterly basis.
Use tools like Google Workspace, SAP, Monday.com, Frame.io, and proprietary platforms (Sharp, Tango, etc.) to track projects and maintain operational efficiency.
Negotiate and manage songwriter and original publisher (OP) contracts to ensure WCM Korea remains competitive in signing and retaining talent.
Oversee contract process including: Communicating and negotiating splits, Calculating and managing advances, Tracking contract renewals, expirations, and status of new/existing signings.
Strategic & Commercial Partnerships
Identify and execute brand collaborations, agency deals, and outbound licensing partnerships (e.g., production companies, music supervisors, film/TV/gaming).
Support market-entry strategies and business expansion into non-traditional licensing opportunities.
Work closely with Sync and A&R teams to identify catalog opportunities and drive engagement.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communications
Liaise with WMG and external stakeholders including record labels, co-publishers, subpublishers, copyright owners, attorneys, and managers.
Present WCM Korea’s capabilities internally and externally, contributing to a unified global vision.
Build and maintain strong industry relationships to promote WCM’s catalog and songwriters.
Safeguard confidential information and ensure professional communication at all times.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in music, business, or related field.
5–8+ years of relevant experience in project management, music publishing, A&R, licensing, commercial development, or related field
Ability to build decks, reports, and high-level summaries using data and key performance insights
Comfortable in Korean and English
Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and project management capabilities.
Strong negotiation and deal management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Comfortable working flexible hours and managing international relationships.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and adept at stakeholder communication.
We'd love it if you also had:
Knowledge of Korean copyright law and KOMCA licensing framework.
Experience in sync licensing, DSP negotiations, and publishing operations.
Solid understanding of the Korean music market and publishing industry.
Track record in signing and developing songwriters, and leading successful partnerships.
Familiarity with Google Suite, SAP, Monday.com, Mailchimp, Frame.io, and publishing systems like Sharp/Tango.
