To strengthen its presence in South Korea and East Asia (Japan and Taiwan), we are seeking a dynamic General Manager to spearhead the Sales and Service operations.
General Manager – Sales and Service (Based in Seoul or Busan, South Korea) About the Role: This is a unique opportunity to establish and grow a business operation in South Korea for a well-known marine equipment manufacturer.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director in the Asia Pacific region, you will be responsible for driving the New Equipment Sales and After Sales Support business.
Your key focus will be on expanding the customer base, managing customer relationships, and leading pre-sales activities within South Korea and neighbouring countries – Japan and Taiwan.
Key Responsibilities: Sales Management: You will lead the sales initiatives to acquire new customers, develop business within the existing clients and key accounts, and drive revenue growth in the assigned region.
Expand its brand presence in the region.
Business Strategy: You will take a proactive role in conceiving the sales strategy in consultation with the senior management team to substantially increase brand presence and market share in the region.
Relationship Building : Develop and build strong relationships with key accounts, and other stakeholders.
Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and meetings with clients and partners.
Build a solid internal network with the offices in Asia and Europe.
People Management: You will manage, develop, and organize the operational team’s people capabilities.
You will also coach, train, and foster a solid team spirit within the region.
Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations in the region, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness to support after sales activities.
P& L Management: You will hold full Profit & Loss as well as Balance Sheet responsibility for the profitability of the business unit in the region.
Requirements A degree in Marine, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent experience in marine capital equipment.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in business development, account management, or sales within the marine, shipping, or offshore industries Experience in selling capital equipment (marine engines, gearbox, propulsion system) is preferred.
Technical background in installation, commissioning, maintenance in the marine or related industries is nice to have.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to drive business growth in East Asia.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a customer-focused approach.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
Willingness to travel overseas occasionally to company factories and other global locations.
