Hauptaufgaben
Performs professional nursing duties in all areas of the Women and Infant Care Unit, to include labor and delivery, recovery, postpartum, and newborn nursery. Provides intensive and routine care to patients during normal and high risk antepartum, intrapartum, recovery, and postpartum periods; to well and high risk newborns. Performs nursing duties on rotating shifts in order to meet patient care requirements. Utilizes the nursing care process to identify patient problems and educational needs, generate nursing care plans, write and implement nursing orders to achieve established goals, evaluate nursing interventions based on the patients' response to care, document patient status on a continuous basis and re-evaluate and revise the care plan accordingly. Interprets and executes the medical plan of care for each patient and maintains open communication with physicians and the entire interdisciplinary team. Prepares, assists and educates on specialized procedures such as vaginal and cesarean deliveries, circumcision, paracervical and pudendal blocks, epidual, general anesthesia, internal/external fetal and uterine monitoring, collection of specimens and administration of medications to adults and neonates, administers blood transfusions and blood products to adults, obtain lab specimens, administers oxygen therapy, and administers prescribed oral and parenteral medications per unit standard operating procedures. In emergency situations when the physician is not present, initiates appropriate measure (e.g. cardiac and neonatal resuscitative measures), performs vaginal delivery, ect. Prepares patients for emergency cesarean sections, closely monitors postoperative and high risk patients as well as those under therapy for adverse conditions and reactions. During surgical procedures, confers with physicians concerning instruments, sutures and special equipment. Assists in the care and handling of supplies and equipment including operating tables, obstetrical beds, lights, electrocautery, suction machines, and special instruments. Assumes responsibility for aseptic technique maintenance during procedures, and adequacy and accountability of supplies such as needles, blades, sponges, and instruments. Sets up, operates and instructs others to use specialized equipment such as fetal monitors, infusion pumps, apnea and infant cardiac monitors, oxygen, pulse oximeters, PH analyzers, radiant warmer, transporter, phototherapy lights and otoacoustic emission equipment. Performs point of care testing on blood glucose monitor, calibrates and adjusts equipment for individual patient needs, observes and records patient reactions to treatment or medication. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have completed a three year/four year course of study in a ROKG authorized or recognized college or university in a field related to the job for which being considered. Applicants must possess a current nurse license issued by ROKG.
