Summary Responsible for financial and technical success of a project (on schedule and within budget). Also responsible for ensuring the Project is administered and executed in accordance with the highest ethical and safety standards and compliant with company policies and procedures. Collaborate actively in the development of engineering designs in the different phases: pre-design, basic engineering design and executive project of the Wind and PV Plants at country level in coordination with local and corporate teams assuring the most optimized designs and the inclusion of all technical specifications in their most upgrade version to guarantee technical suitability and technical and economic efficiency. Create and implement best practices in engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance. Responsibilities PROJECT MANAGEMENT Overall responsibility for project scheduling and monitoring for portfolio of projects to ensure completion within expected timelines, budget, and in accordance with EDPR SOPs, standards and regulations. Assess viability and risks at project and portfolio level and implement risk mitigations or contractual protections. Continuously review, establish and refine policies, frameworks, processes, procedures, contract templates, forms (“P&P and SOPs”), including but not limited to those for overall project management, engineering design, procurement, project execution and commissioning, sub-contracting management, initiation of billing. Regularly communicate new or updated P&Ps and SOPs to personnel and provide training on requirements for maintenance and enhancement of work consistency and alignment. Manage all aspects of project administration and coordination which may involve overseeing the administration of project contracts, schedules and budgets, establishing and monitoring financial parameters of projects to ensure delivery within budget and time. Determine project management, technical services and external resources required for the project on an individual and team basis (e.g. additional services). SUPPORT TO M&A AND SELF DEVELOPMENT PROCESSES: Collaborate with Business Development and M&A to perform Technical Due Diligences (in DG projects and in Utility Scale ones) to acquire projects in different levels of Development and to manage self-development opportunities performing CapEx estimations, risk analysis, technical reports. ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT: Execution of the development of engineering and designs in the different stages: pre-design, basic, executive and tender project, supervise technical feasibility of those ones assuring EDPR technical standards and project specific conditions. Challenge Technical Standards applicability and verify and justify deviations from them, to assure the technical solvency and the technical-economic efficiency of the projects. Initiate and develop creative and innovative engineering processes. Ensure strong communication between local E&C teams and Corporate Areas to facilitate exchange of information and to implement change, improvements and best practices Responsible for engineering and design (using industry standard software) of grid connected solar photovoltaic systems (including rooftop, carport and ground mounted arrays) in order to design the most optimal layout with the most appropriate technologies for the lowest LCOE. ENGINEERING SPECIALIZED SUPPORT: Support the elaboration of the specifications for basic and executive projects; supervise the technical adequacy of them, ensuring the compliance with EDPR standard and other specific project restraining in close coordination with Corporate Areas. Provide specialized technical support in the tender processes and assists E&C teams and, if only indirectly, Purchasing Department in the adjudication negotiation to guarantee the best technical-economic conditions in the awarding. Produce pre-conceptual designs with accompanying production estimates and review structural, geotechnical, environmental, permitting, and zoning challenges for projects. Review solar system engineering designs, modeling, and performance data, and provide engineering support during the construction process. STUDIES COORDINATION: Coordinate and validate with other Technical Support Units the execution of specific key studies (collector system, roads design, foundation design, noises, or others) for its integration in the engineering project, to minimize the risk associated with the construction process. PROVIDERS AND SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT: Establish relationships with the main suppliers and providers for the whole value chain in order to include the most efficient technical and economical options for the engineering designs for each site. Manage proposals and the bid/award process for obtaining related services and will provide design consultation for projects. drawings and project schedule. Manage outside consultants to obtain assessments of project structural or geotechnical considerations, interconnect issues, etc. COMMON STANDARDS: Assure the application of the common standards in the studies and projects, supervising its adaptation to applicable local regulations, to avoid non-justified deviations and maximize the investment efficiency with all the technical warranty needed. Detects the inconsistencies of EDPR standards to adapt them to company reality. COMPANY POLICY AND LEGAL COMPLIANCE: Understand and apply policies to prevent occupational hazards, environment and quality to ensure implementation and compliance on tasks under their responsibility. EDPR INTERESTS REPRESENTATIONS: Represent EDPR to agencies and institutions, public and private, in matters relating to its jurisdiction to enforce the interests of EDPR. Requirements Academic Level: Degree in Engineering is required. Required Professional experience: At least 10 years’ experience in design and redaction of different kind of projects for wind farms, PV Plants, substations and high voltages lines. Experience in managing and supervising engineering projects and EPC Experience in coordinating and planning in engineering teams and external engineering companies. Experience in providing technical support for energy-related projects with accountability for project performance and design Renewable Energy and/or Power utility experience is preferred Specific knowledge: Applicable practices and regulations. Substation Commissioning and tests Strong knowledge of photovoltaic system design and optimizing system components for energy production. Working knowledge of energy modelling, PV specific modelling, standard electrical calculations, basic structural & mechanical calculation Strong knowledge of PV components and related manufacturers Good working knowledge of standard utility processes for interconnection approval and design requirements.
