About SAP STAR Program
Global Student Training and Rotation (STAR) Program offers university students hands-on industry experience at SAP, the world’s leading software provider. As part of a global program across 14 countries, STAR students work on real business projects and develop professional skills. Unlike most internships, this program allows students to continue their studies at university without taking a break or needing to graduate first. Upon graduation, you will have opportunities to apply for open positions within SAP and potentially become a valued member of our team.
Education and Qualifications
Open to undergraduate and graduate students who meet the following requirements and process the core competencies listed below.
Expected to graduate in Feb. 2027, Aug. 2027, or Feb. 2028 (required)
Course work in Database, Data Structures, Operating Systems, Algorithms, AI, etc.
Experience in AI coding, such as with github copilot, Cline, Cursor, etc.
Experience in development on Linux environment
Experience in C/C++, Python, and SQL
Intermediate communication skills in English (Fluent is a plus)
Analytical skills combined with the ability to work on complex topics is a plus
An open-minded, problem-solving attitude, resilience, and positive spirit even under challenging conditions
Graduate students are preferred
Role Overview: Developer
The program includes a rotation system that allows you to participate in three different projects or teams within the organization. Your first rotation will be in the Metadata and Replication Team.
The team is responsible for these areas:
Database metadata management and DDL execution engine,
Migration of on-prem database into a cloud database, and
Remote table replication for virtualized data environment
For these areas, here is the example of a project topic:
Build an AI agent that can understand deep knowledge and context of HANA Core metadata and replication, based on the code lines, official documentations, and internal developer documents; thus that can give answers or investigation results on any inquiries or problems related to HANA Core metadata and replication components
By building the AI agent, contribute to Remote table replication of HANA table data from ABAP system or from HANA Cloud system to another HANA Cloud; thus contribute to enhancing migration performance and reducing migration downtime
By building the AI agent, contribute to enhancing metadata management, especially for reducing downtime at HANA Cloud database upgrade which involves metadata upgrade
Program & Work Details 18-month structured program with learning, mentorship, and rotations
Employment Type: Fixed-term Intern 18 months
Probation Period: 3 months from the date of hire (extendable if necessary)
The detailed working conditions will be subject to the employment agreement
Full-time (40 hrs/week) during breaks; part-time (20 hrs/week) or full-time during semesters
Flexible hours aligned with academic schedules
Eligible to apply for full-time roles after 9 months and graduation
Supports university field practicum / academic credit programs (대학현장실습프로그램 / 학점인정프로그램).
