Job Description Leverage total company spend on Direct Materials for John Crane entities in scope and manage the supply chain to obtain improved safety, quality, delivery and cost as well as championing compliance to Smiths Group PLC policies. Work to satisfy John Crane Internal Customers on projects. Execute and contribute to a global strategic supply chain vision, strategy, and methodology in support of John Crane goals and objectives to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Coaching, leading and mentoring diverse teams to create an inclusive, high-performance culture in area of accountability. Duties & Responsibilities Accountable for execution of direct materials and subcontract purchasing in line with Smiths Group PLC Code of Conduct, ensuring that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.Ensuring approval of Purchase Orders in line with the Delegation of Authority policy and approval processEnsure the timely and efficient processing and acknowledgement of purchase orders and MRP action messages (Order, Expedite, De-Expedite, Cancel) or purchase requisitions to fulfil the material requirements of the operation by the Bangalore purchasing teamsMonitoring supplier performance and follow the Global sourcing strategyDevelop and maintain a regional procedure to manage and track indirect costsDefine and implement a supplier development process including classification of vendors with onwards performance measurement.Coordinate with purchasing teams within APAC to promote standardization. Update and maintain the purchasing procedures and standard work following best practice according to Smiths Excellence SystemBuild and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers.Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.Control Direct material costs and achieve savings as per annual targetsDevelop the purchasing team skills and capabilities with a clear succession planResearch and evaluate areas of opportunity and deliver a continuous pipeline of cost-out projectsDevelop ideas to improve operational efficiency, add value and support continuous improvement culture and personal accountability in area of responsibility. The Individual Education/Training: Diploma or University DegreeMember of CIPS and/or APICS and/or CILT (or any other professional procurement or supply chain body) is an advantage. Experience: 5+ years of experience working within a purchasing departmentExperience in procurement of components for Oil & Gas markets with specific qualification requirement (PPAP),Experience in technical specification and selection of vendors, including material and product knowledgeExpert understanding of MRP driven procurement (SAP ideally)Delivered actual cost savings or other efficiency benefits within the organizationExperience of leading and working in diverse teams Knowledge/Skills: Able to read and understand technical drawings Analytical skills - Good knowledge of Microsoft programs, Power BI data extraction and analysis including look ups and pivot tablesProcess-driven approach and “systems thinking”Ability to solve problems independently and in a structed way (e.g. A3), able to use data to inform decisionsExcellent communication and relationship management skillsAbility to negotiate effectively with suppliersAbility to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization, always promoting ethical procurementAbility to solve problems independently, keen and able to use initiative and lead.SAP knowledge but not essential Languages: English required, written and spoken.
